Hi its me, Kamonegi (Farfetch'd)!  I am here to teach you some basic Japanese so that maybe you can become as civilized as me when it comes to Japanese culture!  I will teach you more stuff every week or so, so that means regularly.  In order to help me teach all of you I have asked my good friends Tattu (Horsea) and Azumao (Seaking) to help assist me.

As a beginning lesson I will show you the proper way to introduce yourself or someone else in Japanese.  Now Tattu please introduce yourself.

: Hajimemashite.  Tattu desu.  Dozo yoroshiku.

Now that translates into english as: How do you do?  I am Horsea.  Pleased to meet you.  Now Seaking can you show everyone how you would introduce Tattu?

: Kochira wa Tattu-san desu.

Ok now the translation for that is: This is (Mr.) Horsea.  Now I will give you a run down on the vocabulary used in this lesson:

Hajimemashite ~ How do you do

Desu ~ is/am/are

Dozo yoroshiku ~ Pleased to meet you.

Kochira wa ~ This is

Now you may not have noticed this but Seaking said -san after the name Tattu.  The reason, you may be wondering is because when you talk about other people in any situation you should use -san after the name out of respect (unless the person is a close family member).  In addition you must NEVER use -san after your own name, its just part of the culture.  I hope you all enjoyed today's lesson.  We can't wait to see you again!

Come back home!
